I’m Back

paigeonbike

I have been very busy with my SDA duties. When I send out renewal letters, I get a lot of renewals to update in the database and this time of year it is about double. So, I have been chained to the computer and not doing much creatively.

Look, at my Paige, riding her new bike. She is growing up so fast!! Looks like it is quite nice in San Mateo. In Portland, we had snow and ice and cold weather and schools closed for two days.

This photo was taken out our condo window.

I have managed to finish the brown kid sweater and get started on the little hat.

I want to get a cowl done for myself with this lovely yarn.

When I was in California, knitting, Paige wondered what I was making. She mused that she would like a purple sweater with Winnie the Pooh on it. I found this book on an Etsy site so I just need to buy the yarn.

poohsweaterbookI am hoping to crank up the sewing machine tomorrow and do some facings on a couple of small quilts and add an oak tree to the Sonoma landscape. I am getting a slow start for the new year, sort of coasting and dealing with the knee issue. Trying to do the daily exercises that have been prescribed – they are really kind of annoying and I don’t enjoy doing them!

ellenscarf

Can’t believe that tomorrow is Christmas eve. I am rather organized this year, trying to keep things simple. It is easier here in The Congdo. Not much entertaining going on or decorating. We didn’t have room for a Christmas tree so I have divested myself of all the ornaments and tree skirt. Instead, we have this lovely bare limbed tree which is covered with little lights. We also have two smaller ones on the buffet with some of my creches.

Up at the top is a beautiful felted scarf gifted to me by one of the SDA reps that I work with. Ellen is the rep for Connecticut and is a new Rep. She puts together really newsy e-mails for the CT members which I format in Constant Contact and send out for her. She gave the scarf to me for my help this year. It was not necessary, but I sure do love it. She said when she saw a photo of me with my red hair, she knew that this one had been made for me.

Today, I made peppermint stick ice cream to go with Christmas cookies for Christmas eve. The Portland peeps will come over for supper and gift opening with us. We are going to have Dungeness crab and salad and bread. Very simple. On Christmas morning, Mr C and I are leaving on a jet plane to spend a week in San Francisco with the California contingent of the family. I was excited to see this weather forecast.

While walking Scooter in the neighborhood yesterday, I found a new store that sells beads and a large variety of wood printing blocks in different sizes. That was exciting.

Wishing you all a lovely holiday with your favorite peeps. I will probably check in from San Francisco with some Paige cuteness.

Some Painting and a Lot of House Stuff

organzapaintingdropcloth

This morning I washed out my orange dyed fabric. Reveal will be coming up soon. Then I painted silk organza for my seasonal piece. The above is my drop cloth. I always love how the drop cloth looks after a painting fest.

Then, the afternoon was spent with the realtor and picking out paint for our smaller guest bedroom which we never painted. The flippers used some weird molding around the windows which we are restoring and then painting the walls a nice warm neutral.

I saw these red leaves in a driveway on our walk today. So pretty.
