Construction Quilting

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Tonight, Mr C and I dined at a new restaurant near us — A Cena in Sellwood. We shared a salad of grilled romaine wrapped in pancetta with roasted cipollini onions and a dressing of warm pancetta zabaglione. For a main course, I had white bean gnocchi with rosemary-orange lamb stew. This was so fabulous that I didn’t mind at all that I might have gone over my daily WW points. Mr C had seared scallops with potato cake and foi gras and truffle sauce. We haven’t eaten out in a while, and this meal was worth the wait.

Some of my readers shared my consternation of how to quilt the focus fabric in the new quilt. The quilting that I removed yesterday was my attempt to quilt echoing the magenta lines. it just didn’t work. I knew that I needed to do something more organized. So I decided to do a grid with curvy lines and I really like the effect. It works with the other design, but doesn’t fight with it.

Here is another sneak peek.

On this fabric, I used a more subtle thread and quilted wonky vertical lines.
