I am so tired. Between all the family stuff and the trip to the coast to see the “It’s Good to be Green” show, I am done in. Then, there was the time change.
I arrived at the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center and found Terry and Larkin and the rest room (it is about a 2 hour drive). Terry did her video interview first. Then, it was my time. The videographer told me that I am a natural in front of the camera. I did find it easier than I expected, to talk about my piece and how I did it. June arrived soon after and got her 15 minutes of fame – oh it wasn’t that long!!
Here is a group of us waiting for the videographer to finish so that we can see the show. Left to right: Larkin, moi, Jan Beale, Terry, Arlene. Jan and Arlene are from Whidbey Island, where Larkin lives.
Here are the Portland Green spouses waiting in the hall. That is June with them. Hmm – lots of enthusiasm there.
Finally, the show. It looked really great. The 18 inches by 45 inches made for a cohesive show, even though the work was very diverse.
Mine didn’t play well with the other pieces so it was hung on the door to the exhibit hall, welcoming one and all.
Here are some shots of the show. As artists, we were allowed to take photos today. I have tried to give an overview of the show.
In the shot above, you can see a TV. That is where the artist interviews will play throughout the run of the show.
And, finally, here is Larkin with the Portland troika. Don’t we look so artsy?
If I missed getting a shot of your quilt, I am sorry. I just wanted to give a flavor of how the show was hung. It really did look beautiful.
Gerrie, thanks so much for putting up the pix. The show is super! I love how having the pieces all the same size makes them feel very peaceful together, though there are a ton of them in one room! It must be very energizing to be in that space right now!
Hats off to everyone who worked so hard on this, especially to Larkin and Van. Love, Susan
Great show Gerrie! I do love your piece hanging there on the door: a true welcome to all who enter.
You look terrific! I want to see the show in person too, so just may have to get that cd!
The Portland Troika…very good indeed!!
Gerrie, long time lurker. I had to step out and say you look great, the green shirt you have on is to die for and I agree skinny! Show is looks lovely also.
The four of you are lovely. And the work looks great too. It’s nice to see Larkin again…it’s been too many years.
Kristin you MUST buy a CD. I know it will be wonderful!!
Great overview of the show, and I, too, would love to see it in person.
I also love the shots of the artists (and the husbands!),especially that last one. Those Portland gals are something else.
Portland Troika — I love it! Watch out world! The show looks great and I wish i could come see it in person. May have to buy the CD now that you and Terry have whetted my appetite.
mom you look so beautiful and tiny. the works looks magnificent. i wish i could see it in person!!
Gerrie, thanks so much for taking the pictures of the show … now we can get an idea of how the pieces are hanging! (You are adorable, and I love the picture with June, you, Terry, and Larkin … yes, you are all so ARTSY!) Wish I could be there too.
