Family Matters

I’m feeling sort of melancholy. My brother’s wife, Carolyn, died this morning. She had a 2 year battle against cancer. We were not that close. You know how when the male person in a family, be it brother or son, gets married, they tend to spend more time with the wife’s family. Anyway, I struggled this morning about whether to fly to New York state for the funeral. Then, I called my brother, and that sealed the deal. He seemed to really want me to come. Family matters.

I fly out on Wednesday and return on Sunday. So I am bustling around trying to get a bunch of stuff done and in the mail, bills paid and food in the house for Mr. C.

This past week-end, M & M spent the night and then went to church with us on Sunday morning. We had a good time. Here are some gratuitous cute pictures of Miles, Mia and Maggie. Because, family matters.

  8. I’m so sorry for your loss, even though you weren’t close, it’s still family. And you’re very right, it matters alot. Isn’t it a shame that it often takes a funeral to bring a family together?

I’m so sorry. Seems like the older we get the more important it is to keep those remaining family connections close. It will be a sad trip, but you’ll be glad you are there for your brother.

Oh those kids are just too cute.

Re: male family….I KNEW there was something wrong here. We have lived for 23 years where Mike wants to live. MY family has always taken short shrift…..no more. The farm is on the market. Anyone want 17o rolling acres with woods, ponds, and some GREAT building sites in an EXCELLENT school district?? Developers welcome!!

Try to get some enjoyment out of the trip east. My friend’s memorial was so upbeat that, while I will always miss Bill and his advice, I know he is happy where he is.
