I was saddened to hear that Steve Jobs lost his battle with pancreatic cancer today. This photo is him in 1984 with the first computer I ever owned. When I realized that I needed to become computer literate back in the 80s, I went to the local community college and enrolled in computer classes. They only taught on Apples. It was the beginning of my love affair with Apple.
I got a wonderful job as a result of that training, as an administrative assistant at the Career Action Center in Palo Alto — and of course, they only had Apple computers. When I got a job as a desk top publisher for a magazine in North Carolina, I had to work on a PC. I complained so much, that the publisher finally bought me a super duper Apple.
I have owned many computers since that first one. Now, I have the iPhone and the iPad — two gadgets that I love.
It is my hope that Apple will continue to be the company that Steve Jobs envisioned and that the innovations will continue.
Steve Jobs was a one of a kind guy that comes along once in a generation and changes the world. He will be missed.
