Sleepless in Portland

Just a quick post to give a sneak peak of some of the work I have been doing. I am so tired. I must get to bed. Last night just as I was going to bed, I got the worst nosebleed after I used my nasal inhaler. As the Kaiser hand book says – it is messy, but not life threatening. It took until 3 am to get it to stop – three t-shirts later. The hand book said to call the doctor after 30 minutes, but I was determined to get it under control without going to the emergency room in the middle of the night.

So here is a photo of some postcards and wall hangings that I am finishing up. I thought I had to have work turned in for the Cathedral Art Show on Saturday, but it is next Saturday so Wheeee!, time to make more stuff and get to work on a fish quilt and start dying fabric for the commission piece.

Wips

I am doing some hand stitching on the indigo blue art cloth postcards. I have finished machine quilting the three pieces in the back. I foiled a motif on one. I may do some beading on one, except that they are fused and that is hard to do. Maybe I will fuse some beads!!

LOVE the spirals!!! They really grabbed me when I first looked at your photo!
The piece in the upper right has what appears to me to be a Japanese-type sandal! Of course I adore the black and white…and the red gives it a real zing!
Glad your nosebleed finally went away, but how distressing and sleep-robbing. Hope that never happens to you again, Dear Heart.

The indigos are wonderful, specially the one behind the top one. They make me think of …. “life” – like when you look through a microscope at water and see life wiggling around in there. Or maybe this is more like atomic life. Either way, tres cool.

The larger piece with the red squiggly lines is great too, but my favorite is the larger one with circles towards the bottom of the pic. The colors just sing to me. And how did you get that spiral to be transparent!?

Love the indigo blue–did you dye it and is it really indigo dye?

    I love the blue postcards!

    No More Nosebleeds, Gerrie!!!

  7. That indigo looks wonderful! And do i recognize the others as pieces started in Sue’s workshop? The foiled additions really give the one on the left focus 🙂 Is a nosebleed quilt or postcard too macabre a surface design?
