When we arrived home from the beach, I found a card from the PO, saying that I had a package to pick up. I couldn’t wait until this morning to drive over to retrieve it. This was inside:
It is Village Series #2, made by one of my favorite art quilters, Kristin La Flamme. She started it last year at Art Quilt Tahoe, in a class with Gerry Chase. I kept dropping by the room and calling it my quilt. I really loved the mix of fabrics and the variety of surface design techniques. It is whimsical with a gracious nod to traditional quilting. Yet, it is very abstract and almost ethereal. What can I say, I love it. So I did a payment plan and now, it is all mine!!
Here are a couple of closeups:
I have to do some rearranging of art on our walls so that this will have a place of honor. I’ll post a picture in its new location.
Now, after several days away from my Janome, I must finish quilting the “Good to be Green” piece before the end of the week.
So fortunate to have a whole quilt by Kristin! I love her work and was recently lucky enough to have her give me a post card quilt. I just treasure it.
Very wonderful. Art feeds the soul, (And I just bought something really cool online this morning…)
Oh, how cool!
A great mail day, indeed!
I love Kristin’s work — she has a great blog too. Nice choice for a purchase!
Lucky you! Kristin does nice work, doesn’t she?
On another note – congrats on another 2 lbs. I have gained all of mine back in the last 2 months. Shall have to start all over again – that’s what comes of not going to the gym.
So Wonderful! I am looking forward to seeing this Kristin piece in person. Am I going to get to see Kristin in person soon, also????
What a great quilt!!!!!! Kristin work has such a unique signature.
It’s really beautiful!
Oh yippeeee, yipppeeee, yipppppeeee! I am so glad it arrived (and pretty quick too). I can’t wait to see it in it’s new home.
You lucky, lucky person! It is so much fun to look at on line, I can only imagine what it is like in person.
