Football Phobia

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

I managed to miss most of the Super Bowl today. Steve asked to turn it on at dinner. I agreed as long as the sound was turned waaaay down. My Radiant Sunrise quilt is almost quilted. I used fusible batting. Once I got both sides smooth, it worked quite nicely. On Sunday nights I work on updating the Surface Design Website. I finished that and decided to update the blog. I thought I would post a photo of my granddaughter, Mia, with the quilt I made for her for Christmas. She turned 5 a week before. She has a big bed now and needs a big quilt. She helped pick out the fabrics. There are a lot of pinks and purples and I added lime green, of course.

I really don’t much like borders on art quilts. They always seem like an after thought not an integral part of the design. I am making a quilt designed by Cara Gulati called Radiant Suns. I took her workshop last month at our guild. I think it needs a border so I chose a nontraditional border that sort of blends with the background rather than an in your face outline around the quilt. I like it. I am calling this Radiant Sunrise. Now I have to sandwich it and do some creative machine quilting. This quilt is a donation to the Living Room, a day shelter for at risk women and children. They are having a dinner/dance and auction on February 12.

In the beginning…

This is my first blog so please be kind. I enjoy reading the blogs of family, friends and perfect strangers so I thought I would jump into the fray. As my Blog title says, I am crazy for fiber. I make fiber art and I’ve been knitting forever. I hope to share my works in progress – both blunders and successes. Once I figure this out, I’ll add some photos. I like blogs with photos and few words.
