The Christmas Tree

I put on my boots, and Mr C and I headed out to Christmas Tree land, near Oregon City. It was a very pretty drive, once we left the freeway.

Here is the Christmas Tree farm we chose — actually, it was the first one we found that was open today.

We were on the hunt for a Noble Fir. Mr C wanted a tall skinny tree. We found the perfect tree, very quickly. With precision, Mr C felled the tree.

To the victor, go the spoils.

The tree looked so pretty tied to the top of our red Jeep.

Mr C got it in the house and took care of doing the lights. M & M came over after school and began taking every Christmas ornament and decoration out of the boxes which had been retrieved from the basement.

Mia is an excellent decorator. She even climbed up on the step ladder, when needed to place ornaments on the upper branches. Look how tall she is getting.

Miles enjoyed arranging the nativity sets.

We worked until 5, and then we went to Laughing Planet for burritos and quesadillas. Back home, we had peppermint ice cream and watched “Charlie Brown Christmas.” They are now sound asleep, and we are watching “Waitress” on tv.

good golly, are you guys available for hire? I could use some grandparents in my life. Next time you’re in NZ……heh!

Another reason to look forward to grandchildren! At 16, Joey loses interest far too early or we argue. He has his own ornaments I have collected for him over the years so he gets to place those. When he is done I end up moving them around because he is a “clumper.” No problem this year as no decorations here in MI. I will be in Nova Scotia for Christmas so will decorate there. Joey and Jamie will be with their dad this year so decorating is HIS problem!

    BTW, I covet those boots!!

What fun: for you and the kids too! We used to have a tradition that Craig would hold Kristin up so that she could place the star on the very top of the tree at the end of decorating, and I would snap a yearly picture. Towards the end of her years at home we had to fudge the picture because she was getting too darned big! Mia is tall isn’t she! Lovely pictures, as always.

There’s nothing like kids to get the Christmas spirit in motion. Your tree looks much more evenly decorated than ours ever is. Somehow all the favorite ornaments get clumped together in one very visible spot. 😉
