Three for Three

I finally heard from the third show that I entered, the La Conner Quilt Museum Quilt Festival which will take place September 29 – October 2. Autumn Aspens made the cut.

Life around here is still very crazy. The decking has been almost completed on the deck and tomorrow, they will finish laying it down in the extension between the garage and the house. I think my son is hoping to drive back to San Francisco on Sunday.

I got a few things done around the house, but am feeling so distracted by all the activity going on. The window guy came by to measure for the replacement pane. We have not heard how much it will be yet. It is a tricky install because it is two floors up from the back yard.

I subscribe to Robert Genn’s Twice Weekly Letter. Tonight’s letter was titled, “Sixteen Reasons Why I Won’t Paint Today.” I am sure it was written for me. This was his concluding comment:

Annoying as all these impedimenta are, they shouldn’t bother folks with internal drive. Internal drive is the forge of productivity. In all self-starting activities where end results are dependent on you and you alone, procrastination is the default mode. You can pretty well always find a reason not to work.

I really need to stop procrastinating. What the heck am I afraid of?

WooHoo Gerrie!!! How cool is that! I love LaConner (went there after we left you the other summer) and I love your piece.
I enjoy reading Warren also – he speaks to me quite often, as a matter of fact! OK, now back to work – no more procrastinating! LOL

    xo

    Congratulations!
No wonder you are distracted with everything happening around you. Things will get back to normal in a few days.

Congrats on the acceptance — I think that piece is one of your best in the aspen series. Re: procrastination et al, you are NOT a procrastinator. It can’t all be UP time, there has to be some down time. Serious work gets done in the “down” times, the internal work that propels us forward during the “up” times!

Have a good weekend, sweetie, and enjoy your new deck!

  5. Wonderful news. I really liked that aspen piece.
Hope you get back to something resembling normal soon.
Glad there will be more of the gray trees on silk. Really lovely work.
