Say It Isn’t Snow

greenchairsandsnowagain

I feel as if I have been transported back to another lifetime in upstate New York. But, wait, that was 31 years ago and they actually plowed and sanded our street. We had studded snow tires, and we just kept on going. We braved blinding snow storms, driving to and from Indiana and my parent’s home. Here we are in Portland, OR and we are stranded in our house. Well, if it wasn’t so darn nasty, we could get on a bus and go someplace. We have had snow and sleet and freezing rain today,  We have been warned by the powers that be to stay off the roads except for the most dire emergency. Mr C has cabin fever. I have been chillin’ in the drafty basement studio, working on my latest creation. This, too, shall pass, right? Lisa will get here on Tuesday, right? We will be able to gather as a family for Christmas, right. At this point, I have my doubts.

I have the quilting done of the Dome of the Rock/Wailing Wall. It needs a bit of fine tuning, but I was getting tired and careless so it was time to call it a day.

Your dome looks beautiful and so does your backyard. Looks like mine did this weekend. Nice to look at if you don’t have to go out. What’s up with the weather? It is weird all over the place.

The foil on that dome is so effective! I hope everyone has safe travels to your house, and you all have a wonderful Christmas together.

Drafty basements…the thought makes me colder…I just decided to wait until life returns to routine in about 2 weeks to return to my workshop.

Its odd for me to see your pictorial pieces…kinda a jolt when I come here to your blog.

The foil makes the piece come alive and the best use of that technique I have ever seen -fantastic job! We are postponing our trek to Snohomish. Our fallback plan has always been to go through PDX when Snoqualmie was a mess. Well, not this year! C is going to celebrate his birthday by taking me out to the craft/book stores. What a peach! Keep warm and this too shall pass. Cheers.

What a great piece! I just love it!!

The sermon we heard yesterday was about ‘interuptions’and how we choose to deal with them……how Mary dealt with her life-changing and world-changing interuption…made me realize how little control I really have in my life, but how important it is to roll with the punches, as C always says. Hopefully your holiday plans will all work out as planned, but if not, I know you will deal positively with the interuptions.

That Dome is fabulous! And the holidays will work out — one way or another. 🙂
