Still Going In Shibori Circles

I have made some progress on this piece. I also made a mess in my studio, auditioning my hand-dyed fabrics for the background. Everything is pinned on the design wall so it is still very much a work in progress. I think it will be a fun piece and the quilting should go very quickly on this as I will do simple lines.

I spent a lot of time today moping around, not feeling very good. I am dealing with the clogged sinuses and vertigo. I also think I am having some problems related to a change in my thyroid medication. I have taken dessicated natural thyroid for years and the lab that made it can no longer get the stuff and has changed the formula. It is a big deal for those of us who found relief from the natural type. I can barely get out of bed in the morning and I am freezing cold all the time even with layers of clothes. I took a nice long walk with Scooter in the sun today, which made me feel better.

While moping, I got a quite a bit of hand stitching done on the silk circles. I am really loving that piece.

I bought some black fabric at Walmart (ugh) the other day. It discharged with chlorine to this very lovely color. I have to try it with thiox, now.

lovely shibori circles. assuming your ventilation is good when working with the chlorine-and that you wear the proper mask. those fumes can make you dizzy all by themselves.

This is looking great Gerrie…and I don’t think I have ever seen black discharge to pink with chlorine! What a surprise. Hope you feel better soon.

The shibori are looking fabulous! I look forward to watching further progress. Hope you feel better soon and can find another source for your thyroid medicine that works. A friend of mine recently was horribly bothered with vertigo and it turned out to be a problem with the little tiny hairs in her ear canal and she had to do some strange exercises, turning her head sideways while leaning in the opposite direction. It solved it! There is info on the net, I can tell you more if you are interested. What a treasure you found at the walmart after the discharge! good going!

  6. Hi Gerrie,

Isn’t it funny? The first time I saw these circles from the plane was when we were flying over Texas last year. Then in summer when we saw the big pipes and installations in the centre of a agricultural plots from our camper snd by that time we had figured out that this had to be an American way of cropgrowing. We do it very different in Holland, where land is scarce and not a m2 can be missed. And now I see the circles in your latest works. I look forward to see this beautiful shibori quilt finished!

Wasn’t it just beautiful outside today? I’m glad that you and Scooter got to go out and enjoy the warmth of the sun. Hope your feeling better tomorrow. I love both crop circle projects. Yes, I feel ugh last time I looked at fabric at Walmart, it just too thin and flimsy. Very poorly wooven. I’m saving dog hair to mix with wool and see if I can make yarn.

I hope you get better soon. In the meantime, hand stitching is a good medicine.
I think your new shibori quilt will be wonderful.

Oh Gerrie, I hope you feel perkier tomorrow. Any one of the ailments is taxing enough, but all three at once really sucks! I am always amazed at how a messed up thyroid affects my whole body. The shibori circles are beautiful. I have been loving watching your process and drooling over the beautiful fabrics – gorgeous. Wishing you a better day tomorrow and I hope the only circles you’ll be seeing are the fabric sort. Hugs.
