Endless War or End This War

Would you like this bumper sticker? Read on…

endthiswar.jpg

Four years ago today, President Bush declared, “Mission accomplished.” And here we are mired in what seems to be an endless war. Our young men and women are dying at an increased rate as they are caught in an ugly civil war in Iraq.

Back in March, when I posted the photos of the flags at Reed College depicting the number of dead Iraqis and US soldiers, I said that I was planning my own little protest. I have been waiting for a shipment of the bumper stickers you see at the beginning of this blog. They have arrived, and today seemed like a good day to ask you to participate in my anti-war project

If you send me your snail mail address, I will send you a bumper sticker. All I ask is that you take a photo of the bumper sticker in a public place. I don’t want anyone to do anything illegal or to break the law!!! Then I want you to e-mail the jpeg to me. I am setting up a Flickr photo set where I will post them.

To send me your snail mail, just click on the contact button on the top right of my site. I have a finite number of bumper stickers so they will go to the first 175 – 200 who send me an address.

I hope you will join me in spreading this message — End This War!!

Gerrie – For this, I will take off my Kerry-Edwards sticker and send you a photo. Thanks so much for doing this!

I too already have one of these on my car. But now my husband wants one, will you send one to him?! So good on you Gerrie for doing this! I’ll send you a picture of my car and his in a public place. Even though I live in a very liberal area of California, I had to *gulp* and put it on, worrying that someone will do something to my car, or physically confront me. But I did it anyways, as I am and have always been so very opposed to this war.

I already have one and it’s on my car — can i take a picture of my car w/the bumper sticker (in the window) in a public place? will that count? I’m very pleased you are doing this!! i know too many people with husbands, wives, brothers and sisters etc over there, not to mention how many iraqis are being killed left and right. thank you!

I found my way here from DebR’s blog. I would love one of these! Can you email me for my address? Thank you for doing this!!!

  5. Thank you so much for doing this . . . . and I’ll post a picture of the sticker direct from the Southern Plains (Oklahoma).

P.S. I’m so grateful that I’ve been invited into your studio and home through your blog. I’ve been a long-time fan (lurker) of your creativity and art. Your joy for life reflects in everything you do and you’ve passed that gene onto your two amazing daughters. It’s women such as you that have inspire me and led me to create my own blog this year.

Gerrie, would you send me 6? I have lots of family who would put one on their car.

You are so good!!!! I actually contacted MoveOn on my own and have my very own sticker on my car. But you have really done it right by ordering so many and sending them out. If I send you a photo of mine on my car, can I be included…sort of grandmothered in, so to speak?

  8. Judy says:

I’ve sent you my address and will be oh so proud to attach it to my car. Thanks for the opportunity to broadcast my feelings.

  9. DebR says:

YES!! I adore you, Gerrie. An email with my addy is on its way to you.

I already sent you my address. I’ve been against this war from the beginning and pray that it will end soon. You came up with a real good idea. I will send you a picture of my bumper sticker in a public place.

    You’ve got mail…thanks again.

I’m hanging on to the belief that my 20yo daughter, Army Reservist won’t be called for deployment.

I was going to tell you how much I enjoyed the pic of you in the crab hat on Terry’s blog but you make such an important point here that I won’t futz it up with humor. There’s nothing funny about the War and now there’s nothing funny about George anymore either.

  13. kirsty says:

(unless, of course, you want one here – then I’m in!)

  14. kirsty says:

I won’t ask you to send one as far as Australia, Gerrie, but know that I’m with you in spirit!
