Blue Batik

Friday, February 17th, 2012

I have some nice blue batiks so the last tow 3 x 3s are showcasing the batiks.

Not much to report. I have been doing a lot of SDA work for the last couple of days. I made a couple of more photoshop blended photos. They are like potato chips — you can’t make just one.

I also prepared a thermofax screen of my two guys.

Tomorrow, I am taking another encaustic class. It has been a year since I took the class. I am planning to use more textiles, this time.

Look at this photo I took this morning. I am not sure if it is the last rose or the first rose.

Taking Care of Business

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Here is my blue 3 x 3 for today. Love doing the zigzag free motion quilting.

It was a day of getting stuff done. Shipped a quilt to Seattle for the regional SDA show. Sent the scarf to Janet. Did a big Constant Contact mailing for SDA. Worked on the SDA website. Missed a local SAQA meeting – oops!

I also worked on some photoshop images for a project which is currently on the front burner. The theme involves walking around the neighborhood with Scooter and Mr C. Here is what I have so far.

So that is the news from here.

Happy Heart Day

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

I made this for Mr C and also, his favorite meal — grilled filet mignon, baked potato and broccoli rabe.

And here is my valentine themed 3 x 3 which is felted.

I thought I would continue with some photos from the San Francisco trip. On Friday afternoon, we took Mia to two of the places on her list — Japan Town and the Golden Gate bridge. She says Japan Town was the highlight of her visit.

After she had her fill of  Anime and Manga, we drove to the Bay to see the Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point.

An iconic view of the bridge in fog.

Saturday was the baby shower and we all pitched in to help.

Mark has done a nice job in the back yard of their flat. This is an old laundry sink that he turned into a water garden with a fountain on one side and veggies growing in the other side.

Mark and Jayme at the shower.

Steph made them one of her bunnies.

My great nieces who live in California were anxious to help with the gifts.

This baby girl will be the best dressed girl in town. They received so many wonderful gifts. The food was great and a fun time was had by all.

On Sunday afternoon, we took Mia to the MOMA, the other must do thing on her list. This is her in a sculpture on the roof garden.

Monday Meltdown

Monday, February 13th, 2012

It was a long, exhilarating and exhausting week-end. Steph, Mia and I flew into San Franciscoon Friday morning with views of incredible clouds. This was what greeted us as we emerged from the clouds to land at SFO.

Lisa picked us up and we had a full on busy. Our first stop was at Lisa’s studio.

It was nice to see the trees in bloom.

We then stopped at Lisa’s home to check in on Wilfredo and the cats. This is Margaret as objet d’art.

Then, we were off to quirky Valencia Street to do some shopping and have lunch. We ate at a wonderful vegan Japanese restaurant.

Here is Lisa’s sushi:

I had sukiyaki – yummy! It had so many different veggies.

We walked through an alley with incredible murals.

I will continue this in another blog post. Here are the 3 x 3’s that I hand stitched while away from my sewing machine.

And here is today’s.

Why was this a meltdown Monday? I guess I was just sleep deprived and emotional over some things. I didn’t get much done. So I am off to bed and will try again tomorrow to jump back in to things.
