Love the Comments

I am having a lovely day reading the comments from my readers. Thank you so much!

Today, I started working on my little 3×3’s to get them ready for a final installation of some sort. Since they all had raw edges, I am coating the edges with matte gel medium to seal them and prevent fraying. It is fun to pick each one up and revisit them.

After they get sealed and dried, I am storing them in this bin and then, I will start reorganizing them into a large hanging.

This afternoon, I went to Trinity to jury the artists for our annual Artists Among Us Exhibit and Sale. I set up the photos in Keynote, Macs version of PowerPoint. I was excited to find that I could download the slide show to my iPad with a Dropbox app so that we had an extra device for viewing the slide show. We only juried out 3 of the 64 entries.

Here is today’s drawing. I love these water color pencils. I think I need to take a watercolor class.

Happy 8th Blogiversary to Crazy for Fiber

freidasilks

Eight years ago today, I started this blog. This is what I said:

This is my first blog so please be kind. I enjoy reading the blogs of family, friends and perfect strangers so I thought I would jump into the fray. As my Blog title says, I am crazy for fiber. I make fiber art and I’ve been knitting forever. I hope to share my works in progress – both blunders and successes. Once I figure this out, I’ll add some photos. I like blogs with photos and few words.

Not much has changed.  I still like blogs with photos and fewer words, but I have mastered photos! To celebrate, I am having a triple give away.

But, first, I want to mention that gorgeous hand-dyed silk that I just received from Freida Anderson. I have a craving to work with silk charmeuse and I can’t really do  dyeing in the cold weather. This is for a special project which I can’t blog about. It will be difficult so maybe I will have a few sneak peeks.

OK, back to the gifts that I want to share with my readers. You just need to leave a comment on this post. You won’t have to “like” my Facebook Page, because I don’t have one!!

I will draw 3 names at random. The first person gets to select first from the 3 gifts. The second person selects from the remaining 2 and the third gets… you guessed it, the remaining gift. Here is what I have for you:

A signed copy of the Twelve by Twelve book.

One of my homage to Albers art quilts.

Or, a packet of plaid and striped dupioni silks.

I tried my hand at watercolor pencils for my last two sketches. It was fun. I am looking forward to doing more of this.

I used my iPhone to scan this and you can see the shadow of my hand holding the iPhone!

Now, it is your chance to win something! I will do the drawing on names on Wednesday night and announce the winners on Thursday.

It was a pretty nice day today. Almost felt like spring. I took Scooter for two walks. Doesn’t he look handsome. He had his day at the groomer’s this week.

In the late afternoon, we went down to the Rhodie Garden. There was a beautiful sunset out over the west hills.

The Hellebores are in bloom and the Rhodies are getting ready to pop.

I had a big job to complete before Monday and I got it finished today. On Monday, we are jurying for the annual Trinity Artists Among Us. Almost 70 people have e-mailed photos to me. They were given specific instructions for sizing them. Most didn’t follow the instructions. I had to resize them and organize them into a Keynote slide show. It is done and looks really cool. I am excited because we have several new artists submitting who do wonderful work.

I finished the Alzheimer’s quilt edges and did a hanging ring and a label. I like getting work done early!

And here is my rendering of a balsamic vinegar bottle. Not thrilled with it.
